When creating the resin patch for your shower or tub wall there should be simple instructions in the kit.

The cement board should be the same thickness as the drywall for example 1 2 inch thick cement board if the drywall is the standard 1 2 inch thickness. If not all you have to do is mix up the compound and hardener. Place the patch over the hole and pencil its outline on the damaged wall. Using a putty knife you are going to apply the resin to the hole.

Draw an x on the wall above the hole and an arrow on the patch that points at the x so you ll know how to orient the patch in step 6. Allow your patch to dry which should take at least 24 hours. You may need to remove a larger section of drywall to repair rotted. Find a scrap of drywall that s the same thickness as the damaged drywall and cut out a square cornered patch big enough to cover the hole. If exposed studs or wall bottom plate are rotted cut these sections away and install new 2 by 4 or 2 by 6 studs to repair it.

For us the luan panels had to sit on top of the baseboard in order to reach far enough up the wall to cover all the damaged areas. In a small bowl mix 4 parts joint compound and 1 part water. Cut and install a cement board patch next you will cut and install a cement board patch to fit the area where the drywall is removed. This meant we had to buy a little wider baseboard as well.
